Open File → Preferences… (Ctrl+,). Change what you need, then click Save. Reset to defaults puts every setting back.
General
- Duration of image — how long a still image lasts when you add it to the timeline.
- Default transition duration.
- Wheel zoom — whether the mouse wheel zooms the timeline always, only with Ctrl (Cmd on a Mac), or never.
- Timeline preview cache — the size and readiness of rendered previews on this device. Clear this project removes this project's previews; Clear all previews removes all rendered previews. Original footage, projects, thumbnails and waveforms are kept.
Previews include visual effects, transitions and titles at up to 720p, preserving the project's frame rate and aspect ratio. Panel changes and reopening the project reuse finished sections; edits rebuild only dependent sections. A transition edit refreshes only the ten-second sections that overlap it. Space plays cached sections immediately and waits only at missing sections. There is no automatic expiry or preview eviction. After clearing, caching stays paused even when the project reopens until you choose Resume caching. Storage or rendering failures preserve existing files. If storage fills, clear previews here, then resume. Preferences reports whether the browser granted persistent storage. Clearing browser site data can still remove these files; without persistence, storage pressure can remove them too.
Notifications
Choose when you hear that generations have finished — when the whole queue is done, or after every job — and where the notice appears on screen. A generation finishes after its required processing, such as lip sync, dialogue assembly or sound-effect cleanup. Intermediate steps do not send completion notices.
Storage
Store automatically my imported footage starts off. Turn it on when you want new imports copied to your account in the background; an existing saved choice is kept. Used shows your total and the percentage taken by videos, images, audio and other files.
Every account includes 3 GB. The storage purchase section accepts any whole number from 1 GB to 1 TB; its summary separates the purchased space and price, the free 3 GB, and the total. The current monthly and annual prices appear beside the billing choice. Storage is paid from your credit balance without opening a separate payment window. The protected owner account has no customer credit wallet, and its generation supplier balance cannot pay for storage. Before cancelling, reduce stored footage to 3 GB or less. See Bringing media in.

Shortcuts
Open Preferences and choose Shortcuts.
Preferences → Shortcuts. Type in Search actions… to find the action.
Click its key and press the new combination — Escape cancels. Click Save.
cutipAI refuses a combination that is already used, or that your browser keeps for itself. A changed shortcut shows a reset button that restores its default. The full list is on the Keyboard shortcuts page.
Timeline tools include T for Add text, G for Generate video, and Shift+G for Generative extend. These keys select the tool; they do not start or charge for a generation. The trimming keys — Roll, Slip and Slide, the edit-point nudges, ripple trim, extend edit and ripple delete — follow Premiere Pro; see Trimming. Insert, Overwrite, Lift and Extract use the comma, full stop, semicolon and apostrophe keys; see Three-point editing.
Coming from Premiere Pro
cutipAI has one set of keys, and it follows Premiere Pro wherever a web browser allows. The tools, playback, marking, trimming and three-point editing keys are Premiere's own, so most of what your hands know already works.
A browser keeps a few combinations for itself, and a web page cannot take them. For those, cutipAI uses the nearest free key:
| In Premiere Pro | In cutipAI | Why | |---|---|---| | Ctrl+K, add an edit | Ctrl+Alt+K | The browser uses it for the address bar. | | Ctrl+M, export | Shift+E | It minimises the window on a Mac. | | Ctrl+I, import | Ctrl+Alt+I | One browser opens its page information with it. | | Ctrl+L, loop | Ctrl+Alt+L | The browser uses it for the address bar. | | Ctrl+Shift+A, deselect all | Escape | The browser uses it to search tabs. | | Ctrl+Alt+Left / Right, nudge an edit | Alt+ArrowLeft / Alt+ArrowRight | Ctrl and the arrows switch desktops or go back a page. |
Three things work a little differently:
- Ripple edit is a switch rather than a separate tool. B turns it on and off.
- Linked selection has no key, because Premiere's is one the browser keeps. Use its button in the timeline tool bar, or Alt-click a clip.
- The Inspector panel opens with Ctrl+Alt+9, beside the other panel keys.
The Text panel, which holds titles and captions, opens with Ctrl+Alt+6.
Any key you changed yourself is kept. If one of your own keys is the same as a key on this page, yours wins and the other command shows as unassigned in the list above until you give it a key.
The account menu’s Storage page offers the same allowance, stored-file removal and purchase controls. Automatic footage storage remains an editor preference. Generated media retained in your account shares that allowance.
