The editor at a glance

A tour of the editor — the top bar, the panels, the preview, the timeline and the inspector.

The editor opens when you open a project. Everything happens in one window.

Each project remembers your workspace in this browser: the last panel, internal tabs, selections, searches, filters, expanded inspector sections and scroll positions. Switching panels, refreshing or reopening the project returns you to that view with playback paused. Clearing site data removes the remembered workspace; it does not sync to another device.

Press Space after using editor controls to focus timeline playback. Text fields and open dialogs keep their normal keyboard behavior. A session interruption keeps the submitted generation's reference in the Job Queue; sign in to the original account to continue checking it, or use Recover result for a finished output. Check History before generating again.

  1. With automatic routing enabled for storyboard lip sync, Approve lip sync shows its estimate and maximum before the paid request starts. Choose Start lip sync to approve or Cancel to leave it unsubmitted. See The storyboard for automatic highest-quality lip sync.

The five areas

  1. The top bar. The File, Edit, View, Track, Generate and Help menus; your project's name, with its save state (saved … ago, or Unsaved while you have changes); your balance; your storage use; Models; the Job Queue; and Render. The Edit menu also holds the trimming commands — ripple delete, ripple trim to the playhead and extend edit; see Trimming — and Insert, Overwrite, Lift and Extract; see Three-point editing. Select clip at playhead and Mark clip are there too, and the View menu has Fit timeline.

Generate audio opens Music and SFX. Both offer Scan the video, scoped to selected videos or the timeline working area. See Generating audio.

  2. The rail, down the left edge, opens one panel at a time: Assets, Characters, Spaces, Objects, Storyboard, Text (titles and captions), Effects, Transitions, the Mixer and Colour, whose scopes measure the picture.

  3. The preview plays your timeline. Press Space on a cached section to play immediately. At an uncached section, picture and sound wait together while that section prepares, then resume automatically. Press Space again or Cancel to stop waiting. Previews use up to 720p at project frame rate, with transitions, effects, titles and captions already rendered. Finished sections persist on this device across panel changes and reopening; edits rebuild only dependent sections. Clear previews manually in Preferences. Above it, Guide overlays a safe area or the rule of thirds, and the zoom menu fits the picture or sets an exact size. Below it are the transport controls. Caption style changes appear immediately here, even while playback is paused. If a clip needs more media to play, the preview shows Buffering media and holds the playhead until it is ready. If loading takes too long, it shows a notice and continues.

  4. The timeline holds your clips on video and audio tracks, with its tools in a bar along the top. Its scrollbar stays at the bottom of the editor. Drag the line under its tools bar to resize the timeline, and the divider between video and audio to allocate their space. The project remembers both sizes. See Editing on the timeline.

  5. The inspector, on the right, shows the settings of what you select — a clip, an asset, a folder or a timeline. Collapse it with the arrow at its top.

Playing your timeline

  • Play or pause: Space
  • Step one frame: the arrow buttons either side of play
  • Mark in and out (the part of the timeline to loop or export): I and O

The timecode on the left shows where the playhead is, and the total length of the timeline. Transitions and visual effects prepare short, silent preview segments while paused. The green line under the time ruler includes those ranges once their finished picture is ready. The first pass prepares footage near the playhead first; editing a transition refreshes only the overlapping ten-second sections. Finished previews stay cached when you switch to Storyboard or close the project. Audio stays on the timeline's live mix.

Saving

Your project saves itself as you work. File → Save (Ctrl+S) saves at once. The save state beside the project name tells you where you stand.

The balance and the Job Queue

The balance in the top bar is always up to date. Click it to see your account in Preferences.

The Job Queue lists your generations: waiting, running, finished or failed, each with its estimated cost, including Auto-captions from the Text panel's Captions tab. You can reorder waiting jobs and cancel them. You are only charged for jobs that finish — see How credits work.

Next

In a 4K project (3840 × 2160), Models also offers Seedance 2.0 US 4K for direct 4K video generation. The model is hidden at smaller project sizes. Reducing the size switches editable selections of this model to Seedance 2.5. Generation requires verified 4K pricing to be available.

Speech cleanup is available directly on the timeline: right-click an audio clip and choose Denoise audio, compare the result, then apply it with one undoable edit.

Video clips also offer Recast people… from their context menu. See Recast your video for selecting a range, comparing a result and applying it to the timeline.

Short videos have a Relight… command in the Assets and timeline right-click menus. It opens a lighting studio with comparison playback; review the result before keeping it. See Relight.

If a generation result can only be kept temporarily, its notice links to Storage and asks you to download it. Opening account storage from the editor follows the normal project-save check.

  1. The 3D Builder rail item opens a full-size set workspace inside the project. Your editing timeline stays intact and pauses while you block a scene. See 3D Builder.
